We are excited to announce that Karen Kabbes and French Wetmore will kick-off our IAFSM Young Professional Webinar Series on Thursday, April 23 from 12-1 PM (CDT). For our first webinar, they will be presenting on the history of IAFSM and floodplain management in Illinois, the future of stormwater and floodplain management in Illinois, and the importance of obtaining your Certified Floodplain Management certification, especially for those who are newer to the industry. In order to attend, you must register at the link below. We will provide (1) PDH/CEC for all in attendance.

 Speaker Bios:

 Karen Kabbes, P.E., D.WRE, CFM

Karen C. Kabbes is president of Kabbes Engineering, Inc. a multi-disciplinary firm specializing in water resources and environmental engineering. A registered professional engineer, her past positions have included leading a floodplain management and regulatory unit for the State of Illinois, Chief Engineer of the Lake County Stormwater Management Agency and Executive Director of the Fox Waterway Agency, a bi-county regional agency.  Karen is a long-time member of the Association of State Floodplain Managers having served in numerous positions including board member, national conference program chair and committee chair. She is a founding member and former chair and program chair of the Illinois Association of Floodplain and Stormwater Managers. Karen is a Certified Floodplain Manager and is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers.
