The IAFSM YP Group is excited to invite you to our next webinar. Brian S. Chaille, P.E. CFM and Chris Hanstad, P.E., CFM at the Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS) will be presenting about Letter of Map Revisions (LOMRs) and how the new HEC-RAS 5 RAS Mapper tools. Recent versions of HEC-RAS 5 have made substantial improvements to the RAS Mapper tool.  Many of the features in RAS Mapper can greatly improve the accuracy and efficiency of modeling floodplains for Letter of Map Revisions (LOMRs).  This webinar will address some of the modeling requirements for LOMR submittals and demonstrate how RAS Mapper can be a valuable tool in developing LOMR models.

Speaker Bios:

Brian S. Chaille, P.E. CFM, is the Senior Technical Reviewer for the Illinois State Water Survey Federal Emergency Management Agency Letter of Map Revision Delegation Program.  Mr. Chaille has more than 30 years of professional experience in water resources analysis, planning, design, permitting and construction in both public and private sectors.  His experience includes stormwater and floodplain management, flood control, residential and commercial site development, bridge and highway engineering, drainage litigation, environmental planning, stream restoration and maintenance.  In addition to the Map Revision Delegation Program, his current duties include floodplain and floodway modeling, and internal review of steady & unsteady floodplain and floodway model analysis.  Mr. Chaille is a graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN as well as the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Hydro-Systems Engineering.

Chris Hanstad, P.E., CFM is an engineer with the Illinois State Water Survey’s Coordinated Hazard Assessment and Mapping Program (CHAMP).  He has over 10 year of experience in floodplain mapping and hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.  He is Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin and a Certified Floodplain Manager.  He has led the Illinois Letter of Map Revision Review Partners Program at the Water Survey for 10 years.  He also performs hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for FEMA floodplain maps studies. He has helped perform loss avoidance studies and flood risk assessments.  He has earned a Bachelor of Science in General engineering and Masters of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
