Professional Civil Engineer

Hey and Associates, Inc. is currently seeking a Professional Civil Engineer.  In this position, you will work collaboratively with a team of engineers, ecologists and landscape architects to help communities create sustainable infrastructure and environments.   

 

Engineers with Illinois Professional Engineering licenses are encouraged to apply. The position may be located in either our Chicago or Volo, Illinois offices. This person will have an opportunity to work with public and private sector clients to plan, design, and permit a broad range of projects throughout northeastern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin.  Additional opportunities may include advanced hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater planning and design projects.  Prior experience with construction observation and reporting is welcomed.  Duties include functioning as the project engineer or project manager on infrastructure improvement or land development projects including stormwater and flood management projects, municipal streets, sanitary and storm sewer systems, soil erosion and sediment control, and water distribution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Illinois Professional Engineering License (PE) or ability to obtain within 1 year of start date
  • Experience with the study, planning, design, reviews, permitting and project management of municipal engineering projects, stormwater projects and water and sewer infrastructure.
  • Background in water resources engineering.  Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling experience is desirable.
  • Experience with construction oversight and/or IDOT construction certifications are desirable.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or work within an established team to plan and design a wide variety of engineering projects.
  • Maintain and develop positive client and team relationships
  • AutoCAD (Civil3D encouraged) and/or MicroStation skills
  • Primarily office-based work with occasional field duties
