The Village of Buffalo Grove is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Assistant Village Engineer.
The Assistant Village Engineer is an essential player in the early conversations with developers to help these projects come to fruition. They work closely with both the developer, Community Development team, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are viable and financially successful for all involved.
Additionally, Buffalo Grove has an extensive Capital Improvement Program that includes roads, utilities and infrastructure maintenance. The Public Works Department takes pride in maintaining the Village’s assets and strives to be efficient and professional as it completes its core functions. Through many continuing studies, the Engineering Division has worked with the Village Board to demonstrate what level of financing is necessary to maintain assets long-term. While the Board has been willing to implement and adjust fee or tax structures to help pay for these costs, the Engineering Division has been highly successful in grant writing. Millions of dollars have been received by the village each year based upon the approach of the engineering team to financial and project planning.

The Assistant Village Engineer will be responsible for managing a multitude of projects in a fast-paced environment and expected to keep a pulse on all engineering work within the Village. This professional position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of municipal engineering initiatives, requiring independent judgment, educational expertise and relevant experience in engineering principles.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with at least eight years of progressively responsible experience in in development review, stormwater/drainage design, and public infrastructure design and construction, with at least three (3) years of supervisory responsibilities or a combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
A professional engineers (PE) license.
Salary and Benefits
The current salary range for this position is $112 209.76- $167 229.92. Starting salary commensurate with experience, but typically no higher than the mid-point of the range.
