The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways is seeking an experienced professional to perform a variety of duties related to environmental aspects of the Department’s work including implementation of the Department’s $1.3 Billion 5-Year Transportation Improvement Program! You’ll have opportunities to collaborate with the Forest Preserves of Cook County, watershed workgroups, municipalities, and others to protect and improve our environment. Key responsibilities include conducting technical reviews of environmental studies related to wetlands, floodplain, drainage and natural resource protection, assisting with the County’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit, and many other exciting opportunities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in biology, ecology, natural resources, environmental science, forestry, or substantially similar area.
  • Six years of full-time work experience in environmental permitting for transportation projects, ecological classification systems, ecological studies and/or natural resource management.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of current/valid auto insurance is required.

Salary and Benefits

$95,074 - $113.765 starting salary. Generous benefit package including affordable health insurance, pension, commuter benefits, and a hybrid work environment which allows employees telecommuting.
