Subject to administrative review by the Manager of the Division of Water Resource Management and is responsible for administering the Division’s Floodway Construction and Public Waters regulatory programs as mandated by the Rivers, Lakes and Streams Act, coordinating these programs with the National Flood Insurance Program, and assisting in administering the Division’s Dam Safety and Levee Safety programs for the six (6) northeast counties (excluding Lake Michigan) administration. Implements and enforces the Floodway Construction and Public Waters regulatory programs; coordinates with the National Flood Insurance Program, and provides assistance to the Dam Safety and Levee Safety programs and field inspection functions.
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Requires four years of progressively responsible administrative and project management experience. Requires possession of valid Illinois Certification as a Registered Professional Engineer. Certification as a floodplain manager preferred. Must have detailed knowledge regarding hydrologic and hydraulic engineering and related current computer applications. Requires possession of a valid driver’s license. Requires strong written and oral communication skills.
